Shout strengthens leadership team with new chief commercial officer

Shout Media is strengthening its leadership team with the appointment of Josh Turney as chief commercial officer to drive digital growth.

Best known for its static out of home network, Shout has evolved in recent years to build a strong digital offering. Turney’s appointment reflects a continued focus on scaling this part of the business, led by its hero channel StreetLED and supported by a broader portfolio of targeted digital and static networks.

It is a pivotal time for the business as it expands its coverage across the wider Auckland CBD, with three additional StreetLED screens live in 2026 across Parnell Road, Albert Street and Mayoral Drive.

With a further two sites consented in Auckland and Wellington, the network is on track to achieve its initial 25-screen target.

Going to the next level

Turney brings extensive experience in building and optimising digital out of home networks, and will lead the next phase of Shout’s digital development. This includes overseeing the expansion of StreetLED, alongside refining and growing Shout’s targeted formats to ensure they are built for scale, performance and commercial efficiency.

“I’m thrilled to join the team at Shout at this important time in its development,” says Turney.

“With a well-established, diverse product offering and respected team already in market, Shout is perfectly positioned to take our digital offering to next level this year too. It’s a privilege to join Paul, Sam, Jen and team and to focus on strengthening and growing Shout’s digital product over the next six months and beyond.”

A natural step

Alongside this appointment, Shout has also onboarded knOOH, reinforcing its commitment to improved measurement, transparency and performance across the OOH sector in New Zealand.

“It’s a natural step for us to join knOOH and connect into a broader network of like-minded operators. It’s an opportunity to share knowledge, challenge thinking and continue pushing our digital offering forward. A real positive for Shout and the OOH industry as a whole,” says Shout CEO Paul Kenny.

While the evolution of digital out of home has always been a key area of interest for the business, there is also a clear view that static formats continue to play an important and role. There’s a commitment to creating a balanced network where both static and digital channels work in tandem – each with their own strengths depending on context, audience, and environment. With that in mind, static OOH will always be a key and important part of Shout.

Over the next six months, Shout will focus on growing its digital network, improving the technology that powers it, and bringing greater clarity to its digital direction.
