Tell us the story behind founding your agency.

Let’s Communicate was founded in New Zealand in 2022, after 17 years of experience working across advertising agencies, radio and TV.

I worked mainly in planning and client service roles, gaining a broad view of how agencies operate and support different businesses. This experience built strong skills, but also a desire to be closer to business owners and have a more direct role in strategy.

I worked with directors and managers on large accounts, but wanted more connection with the people behind the businesses. With this in mind, I left large agency accounts and created Let’s Communicate at a time when the New Zealand market was recovering from Covid-19 and businesses were ready to invest again in marketing.

Today, Let’s Communicate creates tailored marketing strategies for small and medium businesses, as well as companies without an in-house marketing team, often acting as their outsourced marketing team.

Leticia Santos set up Let’s Communicate in 2022.

What’s your favourite thing about running your own agency?

My favourite thing about having my own agency is being able to choose my own clients and truly connect with the work they do.

I get to work with people and businesses I genuinely believe in, which makes everything more meaningful.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned?

I think the most important thing I have learned is that not everyone is ready to invest in marketing.

Especially at the beginning, I tried to work with clients I liked, but many of them were not at a stage where they understood the level of work required to hire a marketing agency. Over time, I realised that good marketing requires clarity, trust and a real willingness to invest. Without that, the process becomes frustrating for both sides.

Now I focus more on working with clients who already understand the value of what we do and are ready to commit to it properly.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received or given out?

The best advice I have ever received is that not every client is for you, and you are not for everyone either.

The best advice I have ever given is that if you truly love what you do, you should keep going. Keep studying, keep improving, because that passion will take you somewhere meaningful over time.

Anything else we should know?

I am Brazilian, from Rio de Janeiro, and I come from an environment where my city is a strong reference in marketing and communication.

Brazil itself is well known for its creativity and strength in this field. Moving to New Zealand was very impactful and also very interesting for me. It gave me a completely different perspective on how marketing is done in another culture and market.

Being Brazilian also has a positive influence on the work I deliver. It brings a creative and adaptable mindset, shaped by my background, which I apply in my projects here.
