Welcome to our new regular column: Top Dogs of Marketing.
Every Friday, we’ll take a paws (ahem) and honour the four-legged co-workers who bring joy to the office… even if they’re rubbish at spreadsheets. Here’s to the Happiness Managers, the Fur-nance Managers and the Chief Barketing Officers.
We launch Top Dogs of Marketing with Pockets from Kindred Studio. According to his human, content lead Milla Novak, the bichon/maltese is Kindred’s Chief Nap Officer who’s a genius at making work fun.
Say hello to Pockets the dog
Job title: Chief Nap Officer. (Formerly Personality Hire – he’s been promoted!)
Time in role: Three years going strong.
About Pockets: Kindred posted a vacancy, looking for admin help. Pockets applied with zero IT skills and maximum fluff. The team thought: “Why not?” It was the best decision ever. He’s useless at spreadsheets but a genius at making work fun.
Novak says: “Pockets has completely changed our productivity by forcing us outside for ‘walking meetings’ (his idea, obviously). Plot twist: our best ideas happen during these walks, not glued to our screens.”
Core competencies:
- Master of the guilt-trip lunch break reminder
- Professional meeting crasher (Zoom background star)
- Strategic napping (always during the 3pm slump)
- Treat negotiation specialist
Remote work perks: Kindred is fully remote, but Pockets makes their Taranaki retreats legendary. “He’s our unofficial Dawn Cafe tour guide and break enforcer-in-chief,” says Novak.
Snack preferences: “Floor food is free food.” This is his personal philosophy. Also enjoys elaborate treat-hiding schemes he immediately forgets about.
Team review: “Pockets taught us that stepping away from your screen isn’t slacking – it’s strategy.”
Office hours: Available 24/7 for emergency cuddles and existential support.
Life motto: “There’s always a reason to wag your tail.”
Come back next week for another Top Dog!
