Putting Marketing Excellence Centre Stage

Bigger, better, bolder TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards programme announced.

The TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards are evolving in 2022. NZ Marketing magazine and NZ Marketing Association are excited to announce an expanded awards programme with new categories, more opportunity for recognising innovative marketing, and a bigger venue that  puts marketing excellence and leadership in Aotearoa centre stage.

The innovative and always evolving nature of the industry – particularly in the past two years – has highlighted new challenges, opportunities and tools in the successful delivery of exceptional marketing. Ensuring that it’s at the cutting edge of these developments, the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards is too moving forward with the times.

Recognising strategic insight as being central to delivering exceptional marketing has always been a core objective of these Awards. This year is no different, and will see a revamp of the existing Excellence and Individual categories, complete with new awards and updated entry requirements that reflect the evolution of specific marketing disciplines. A point of departure – and recognising the responsive nature of marketing – this year’s programme sees the introduction of a new category of awards that celebrate the creative and innovative thinking that goes into tactical marketing aimed at maximising impact.

“Advancements in MarTech, the impact of Covid-19 and the digitisation of consumer habits and experiences are but some of the notable departures moving marketing forward in recent years. Responding to such nuances impacting marketing strategy, the 2022 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards will give marketers more opportunity to share their innovative work and be rewarded for championing marketing excellence at both strategic and tactical levels,” says David Nothling-Demmer, Editor of NZ Marketing.

The evolved 2022 awards programme follows an extensive consultation period with marketing professionals and thought leaders who have helped develop the new categories and streamlined entry process. Key advancements include:

  • Previous Sector and Excellence categories merge to become Marketing Excellence Awards with updated award descriptions and entry requirements for the 18 awards;
  • New category of Short-Term Marketing Initiatives introduced with eight tactical awards, and Best Overall Short-Term Marketing Initiative award, and;
  • Individual Awards expanded to four with the introduction of a new award recognising the Marketing Team of the Year.

More specifically, the Marketing Excellence Awards recognise excellence in specific disciplines across different sectors that demonstrate how effective marketing strategy has led to measurable results for a business or brand. An extension of this marketing strategy, the Short-Term Marketing Initiatives recognise innovative and agile marketing initiatives that have identified short-term opportunities/challenges that have delivered tangible results within a 12 month or less period. Finally, the Individual Awards recognise marketing professionals who have been instrumental in the overall marketing success of a business or brand, both in the short- and long-term.

The evolution would not be complete without an exciting new-look Awards night. Set for September 14, Spark Arena in Auckland will be the new home of the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards with a bigger stage and more capacity for celebration, and of course networking.

“This is going to be the biggest night for marketing in New Zealand and the one must-do event for all marketers. We have a bigger venue at Spark Arena, better entertainment and we hope to attract marketers from across Aotearoa to celebrate the brilliant work they have been creating!” says John Miles, CEO of NZ Marketing Association.
