Jason Paris has been inducted into the YouTube NZ Marketing Awards 2024 Hall of Fame.
The Chief Executive Officer of One New Zealand received the honour at last night’s black tie event, hosted by NZ Marketing magazine and NZ Marketing Association, held at Spark Arena.
Paris was honoured for his hefty contribution to the telecoms and media industries in Aotearoa, where he has presided over huge change and incredible results.
In a prerecorded video, colleagues past and present paid tribute to his achievements, as well as highlighting his personal qualities as a leader, friend and family man.
Vodafone to One
Paris took up his current role in 2018, overseeing the brand’s transformation from Vodafone in March 2023. As CEO, he has focused on driving growth and innovation within the telecommunications industry in this country.
Under his leadership, Vodafone achieved notable milestones, including the largest capital return to shareholders in New Zealand’s history and launching 5G services.
Paris has a substantial background in the telecommunications and media, having served as Spark’s CEO of Home, Mobile, and Business. He contributed to significant growth as well as rebranding efforts in this role.
Before that, Paris was Head of Digital Media, Marketing, and Strategy at TVNZ, where he played a key role in developing major digital services, including TVNZ OnDemand. During these years he also completed his studies at Harvard Business School, graduating in 2008.
Customers at the centre
Paris puts customers at the heart of his business, but his mission is wider: to improve this country and people’s lives through technology. His customer-focused approach has produced incredible results, including:
- The fastest growth in EBITDA and mobile services in New Zealand.
- The largest capital return to shareholders in New Zealand’s history.
- High performance in cultural and service metrics within the telco sector.
- And successful launches of major digital services, including 5G and TVNZ OnDemand.
While his professional achievements are impressive, Paris is also a thoroughly excellent human.
- He spent five years as a board member for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
- He is a Champion for Change with the organisation Global Women.
- And he’s a huge supporter of One NZ’s Te Rourou Foundation.
His family is everything to him: he’s a proud son, husband to Rachel, and dad to Sam, Will and Liza.
Paris might have started off as a lad from Invercargill, but has grown to become a taonga of this country’s marketing scene. StopPress would like to extend hearty congratulations to Jason Paris, the 2024 inductee to the YouTube NZ Marketing Awards Hall of Fame.
